Benefit Premieres Will Open Showing of 'Space Odyssey'

Salt Lake Tribune, 11 June 1968, page A7

"2001: A Space Odyssey" will premiere Wednesday and Thursday in two benefit performances at the Villa Theatre.

The benefits, sponsored by the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce and the Utah Chapter of Arthritis Foundation, will precede the regular opening of the film on Friday.

"2001: A Space Odyssey," produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, is the story of two astronauts who board a spaceship for a trip through space in the year 2001.

The movie, using present day scientific knowledge, attempts to predict what future space travel may be like.
